Daring, decisiveness, perseverance, sustainability and innovation are the characteristics required of the entrants for the Horticulture Entrepreneur Prize 2023. The trade jury will make its assessment on the basis of the following criteria:

  • Vision and strategy and the critical success factors
  • Operating results of the business
  • Good employment practices
  • Identifying and exploiting market opportunities, marketing, market position, positioning
  • Innovation and creativity
  • Adaptability, being able to respond to changing conditions
  • Circular horticulture
  • Continuity of the business (family charter)
  • Networking, collaboration, sharing knowledge
  • Social engagement, role in the community


Theme Prize

For the Theme Prize, the Horticulture Entrepreneur Prize is looking for Dutch entrepreneurs, companies, projects and initiatives that are developing new crops and/or developing new applications and business models for greater value extraction from (horticulture) waste streams, medicine, new sustainable (biobased) materials and much more in a unique way. We are looking for innovations where at least the technical feasibility of the innovation has been proved (Technology Readiness Level 8 or 9).
